Go to the gorgeous island of Skiathos

Posted by on Wednesday, 3 October, 2012

Skiathos (Σκιαθος) has been kept a top secret by those that discovered it many years ago and keep going back every year. The island has been through many adjustments during the last 20 years but it retains that “je ne sais quoi?”. I selected a hotel by looking at web critiques – Magic Hotel in Agia Paraskevi, situated in a little bay centre of the island, perfect location and wonderful sea vistas.

Some evenings, on a short bus ride into Skiathos town, we took an enchanting stroll across the port, stopped off for a beverage or two at one of the bars on the steps before the church and also for an evening meal in a fish restaurant.

Staying close to the beach, I woke almost all mornings to the sound of the waves from the sea. Hotel employees could not do enough for their guests, always conscious of your requirements and friendly. The meals was flawless, both at breakfast time and dinner.

Early evening we would sit down on our balcony consuming a drop of wine whilst consuming the amazing views. In the area, there are lots of restaurants and drink, a couple of supermarkets plus some even sold international newspapers and magazines.

We went to a few beaches, they all seemed similar with their gold sand, clear water, not very crowded, but our favourite was Paraskevi beach as it was a short distance from the hotel.

After every evening we always had a nightcap in the hotel bar. The weather was good for the time of the year we visited, so the locals kept telling us. Even the early evenings seemed warm to us compared to at home.

All round, we really loved our vacation to Skiathos and we hope to go back again soon as it was a special experience.
